Legislative & Policy Information

This committee shall study and evaluate all proposed legislation and regulations that may favorably or adversely affect law enforcement or the welfare of police officers on a national basis and report as frequently as necessary to this Association, or its Executive Committee, its findings and recommendations relating thereto for dissemination to the membership or for other appropriate action. This committee, upon request of the President or Executive Director, may provide for the appearance of its chair or other qualified members of the Association to appear before legislative bodies in the United States to present the official views of this Association in support of or in opposition to any such proposed or pending legislation. This committee shall also report at the annual meetings pertinent legislation passed by the Congress or state legislatures that may be of general interest to law enforcement. This committee must include the regional officers of the Division of State and Provincial Police and the regional coordinators and the Third Vice Chair of the Division of State Associations of Chiefs of Police. The committee must have representation from each state.
